Docked for Good: Certificate of Deletion Vessel and More

A boat is a precious thing. For many of us, having a boat is something that you dream of and spend years planning for. But, all things must end. Eventually, even the most ardent vessel owners often sell their boats. Sometimes, it’s for profit and often it’s to clear space so that they can get the next vessel. Many of the people who sell their boat will have to get a certificate of deletion vessel. That’s just one of the many forms of vessel documentation that you can find at our site.

Certificate of Deletion Vessel Explained

If your vessel is already documented, and you sell it to someone that is in another country, then it’s time to get one of these forms. The certification can be deleted upon the request of the vessel owner. However, that’s not the only way that these forms can be valid. It’s also possible to request this particular kind of documentation by an authorized agent on behalf of the vessel owner. If you have any questions about how this works, don’t hesitate to contact us.

In Addition to the Deletion Certificate

With many of our other forms, you just fill them out. You go online, then you go through line by line, and just give the information. This is one of the few forms on our site that asks “why?” If you want to get this particular certificate, you have to say why you want the documentation deleted. In addition to putting down the name and vessel number, you also have to explain your reasons for having the vessel deleted from the United States Coast Guard documentation file.

Honesty is the Best Policy

That’s true in just about everything in life, but it’s certainly true when it comes to vessel documentation. Stating as clearly as possible why you want your vessel documentation deleted is the best way to go about things. That’s not to say that you have to write a novel or even an in-depth essay on your motivations, moment by moment as you realized that you wanted to delete your documentation. But, filling it out as clearly and honestly as possible may not necessarily speed the process up, it certainly won’t slow it down.

Document Processors (and More) to Help

Of all of the forms we offer on our site, this might be one where our team of document processors comes in the handiest. For example, no matter which form you fill out, our pro document processors go through everything with the proverbial “fine-toothed comb,” making sure that all have been filled out properly. With this form, they can go through your answer, no matter what length it is, to make sure that everything is exactly as it should be. If they have any questions, we’ll let you know. If you have any questions about any part of the documentation process, you can always call us at the Maritime Documentation Center: (800) 535-8570.
