Are you at the point where you’re looking to get Coast Guard documentation for your vessel? Maybe you’ve been looking at getting a five ton vessel for more than recreation. Perhaps you’re at the point where you’re looking to get a vessel to make money by heading into certain fisheries, coast-wise areas, and the like. It’s easier to get this kind of documentation than you might think. In the old days, you could have had to go through an incredible amount of rigmarole. Now, you can just use our site.
Acquiring Coast Guard Documentation
Coast Guard documentation, in many different forms is available through our website. You can find all of the different kinds of documentation you might need through our website. You don’t’ have to look far for them, either. You can see all the different kinds of forms there on the left of the site. If you don’t see the exact kind of documentation you’re looking for, then scroll down. If you still can’t find the documentation that you require, look to the upper right where it says “More.” There’s plenty more kinds of documentation there for your vessel.
The process for once you get your documentation into us is actually quite easy. You complete the form, and then the form is forwarded to one of our Documentation Processors for review. This is done automatically, exactly as soon as you fill out the form. It’s just one more way that we make the process easier. You shouldn’t have to worry about sending an email, or attaching something to the email, or having to send an email to someone you don’t know. Instead, the form is just sent to our Documentation Processor immediately.
You’ll note that we capitalized “Documentation Processor.” There’s a reason for that. This is a highly specialized job. We employ some of the best Documentation Processors in the business. They’re trained professionals who are very, very good at what they do. Their job is simple to explain, yet deeply complex to perform: they find any deficiencies, or little mistakes contained within your Coast Guard documentation. Then, they fix them so that you don’t have worry about your forms. This may sound like a small thing, but it’s really not.
One of the major reasons to get Coast Guard documentation is so that you don’t have to worry. You can go out and enjoy your boat, safe and secure in the knowledge that your documentation is taken care of. However, when you send in your forms and there’s little deficiencies in them, that can lead to a lot of problems. Specifically, the problem of your forms being sent back to you. The Coast Guard really doesn’t accept forms that have mistakes in them. So, you could think that your documentation is something that you don’t’ have to worry about… only to be right back where you started.
In the years we’ve spent working on our business, we’ve heard horror stories from boat owners who had to keep sending in documentation to the Coast Guard over and over again. No matter how hard they tried, there was always some little, tiny problem that meant the form had to be sent back to them, over and over again. This can be deeply frustrating. It can be especially frustrating when all you’re trying to do is take your boat out and have fun. Of course, it can be even more frustrating if you’re trying to run a business.
Maritime Business Documentation
When you run a business using your boat, you have no time whatsoever for incorrect documentation. You can’t wait for your documentation to be sent back to you, time and time again, you need it to be correct. To make the most money with the fewest amount of hurdles and potential landmines, you need your documentation to be sent in the Coast Guard properly the first time. That’s where our Document Processors come in. You fill out the form and they make sure that it’s good to go.
It may sound like a small issue, having your Coast Guard documentation sent back to you over and over again. However, when it happens over an extended period of time, it can be a real problem. Some people have had their process delayed by weeks or even months. Think about that if you’re running a maritime business: your entire year could be dependent upon the summer months. You think you’re going to be able to make enough money for the year, and then the entire summer gets taken from you. All due to incorrect documentation. That’s an extreme example, but there’s nothing good about having your documentation sent back to you over and over again.
The old days of Coast Guard documentation were very different from the present. The idea was, if you wanted to send in your documentation, you had to do it by mail. In most cases, you had to pay extra for postage, and then hope that it got through, etc. With our service, obviously your documentation goes to our Document Processors. Then, after that, it gets sent right to the Coast Guard. There’s no 3rd party, there’s no having to rush out and buy a bunch of stamps, or shell out for Priority Mail. You send it to us, we send it to them. Convenience. That’s what our service is all about.
The Certificates of Documentation that we can help you to get are powerful legal documents. They state that a vessel is yours, they can come in very handy in many business scenarios, and they show that your vessel is a United States one even if you’re outside the country. However, it’s important to remember that these certificates do not last forever. In fact, they only last for one year. That may sound a bit extreme, but it’s true. A Certificate of Documentation is only valid for one year from the date of the issues.
Even then, that’s provided there are no changes other than the owner’s address changing. If that’s the case, then the certificate has to be changed earlier. So, as you might imagine, the renewal process becomes all the more important. You have to renew these annually. That means that once a year you have to make sure to renew your documentation. In prior eras, as you might imagine, this could be an enormous pain: you’d have to fill out the form, mail it in again, and hope that they didn’t find some tiny flaw that they could use to send the form back to you.
Of course, today, we can handle this documentation for you, too. You can pay for your documentation to be renewed through us. We’ll take care of it, just like we did with the initial documentation. You’ll fill it out, send to our Document Processors, they’ll weave their magic, and then it will be sent off to the Coast Guard. So, instead of having this worry over your head from one year to the next, you can take care of it so that it’s one less thing for you to be concerned about. In fact, you can even do it so that you don’t have to worry about it for five years.
One of our more popular services is that you can get your Coast Guard documentation renewed automatically for up to five consecutive years. It’s called the “Pay for Your Renewals in Advance” function, and it eliminates any and all kind of stress that you may have in regards to your vessel’s documentation. Let us make it easier on you. With so many different kinds of documentation at our site, you can find the one that your vessel needs. Always make sure that you’re as safe on the water as possible, and give us a call at (800) 535-8570 or head to our site.
